Decent Hotel

We started & ended our Mercury Journey Through the Balkans adventure at this hotel.
First visit
Check in was a bit of a farce, took an absolute age to hand out room keys to 17 people on a Mercury group tour.
Spacious room with a large comfortable bed, pillows not so. Minibar fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, adequate hanging & drawer space, 2 charging points beside the bed, wifi good, aircon good, complimentary water x 2 daily, tiny inroom safe which had been closed by a previous guest!!! so had to run to reception to get a master key.
Room was not sound proofed as we could hear the trams outside.
Bathroom had a walk-in shower with shower gel & shampoo dispensers, soap dispenser at basin, hairdryer. No shelf space for soap bags & toiletries.
Buffet breakfast had the usual hot & cold choices with fried/scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, rolls, ham, cheeses, waffles, French toast, good coffee machine & fruit juice machine & a selection of sweet delights.
Friendly & helpful staff.
As a group we had a welcome 3 course dinner in the restaurant which was very disappointing, tasteless & under seasoned. Was supposed to be a traditional meal with local entertainment!! No draught beer in the bar.
Hotel location was a bit out of the way. No restaurants or bars in the local vicinity & a 25+ minute walk to the city centre.
Second visit.
Quicker checkin.
Different room not facing the street, a lot quieter.
Same description for the room including the problem with the safe. Why do the staff not check that the safe is open, not a difficult job!!!
Bathroom same.
Breakfast same.
Farewell dinner was in local restaurant with entertainment.

Problem-solving is not within their competencies.

Arrogant and completely incapable of solving problems. They do not even respond to complaint emails.

Other Hotels offer better solutions

Bad experience, booked from 26 to 28 February in another HMG structure in the center. Forced by HMG to move to the less central Abrazo hotel, after one day, 27 afternoon I am "asked" to leave the hotel due to "overbooking". They had transferred me to another hotel considering one night and not two as per booking. Imagine my disappointment, I was in bed after a tiring day. They would have moved me to another hotel, without considering my disappointment and discomfort. Solution found through Booking with full refund of the stay and last night in another structure. It was not my first choice, however, to you the considerations on the service offered.

Uninterested and rude staff

The minibar in the room didn’t work. One night, the hot water stopped and we had to round it off with cold water while taking a bath. January's weather -7 degrees!!! The watch at the front desk said nothing but what to do. Our efforts to reach the hotel manager the next day were wasted. They didn’t even reply to the email we wrote

Good accommodation

The venue is set within a 15-minute walk from the city center. The staff is friendly and the breakfast very complete.
The rooms are small but cozy.
