Traditional hotel, centrally located with beautiful beer garden.
We stayed two days in the Lion during our Kinzigtal bike tour. The location in Kinzigtal is ideal for this half a day to Freudenstadt and a day tour to Offenburg.
The Lion is a traditional inn in the middle of Alpirsbach. Monastery and brewery are "around the corner".
We were lucky enough to get rooms with direct access to the first floor terrace where we could still sit very nicely in the evening.
The food in the tavern, or in the beautiful beer garden, was very good.
Breakfast is ok, reasonable price.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
It should be noted that the railway line leads directly to the hotel, but you can hear the warning sounds of the railway barriers more than the train itself.
The hotel itself does not have parking, but you can park on weekends in the nearby brewery parking lot.
The large bicycle garage is about 5 minutes walk away.

A good address a stone's throw from the Alpirsbach Convent
An ideally located restaurant, in an impressive 19th century building. The style of the restaurant is very classic, which is very appreciable in the Black Forest. The waitresses are in traditional clothes. The meal is excellent and affordable. I had the Flädlesuppe (€6), the Biermautaschen (€17) everything is really very good and served in satisfactory quantities. Small downside which justifies my 4/5: the ventilation of the toilets! Everything was clean, but there was a musty smell, which was unpleasant for a restaurant.

Really good authentic meal in the Black Forest
We were staying in a great little AirBnB nearby and walked in for a dinner - great atmosphere with a mix of locals and visitors, efficient and helpful staff, simple, authentic dishes, well cooked. It was a genuinely authentic experience and I would really recommend you visit while in Alpirsbach !

Wonderful stay
First off, I don't really understand why it's listed here as a B&B. It's a hotel with a restaurant occupying its first floor.
A modest plaque on the wall states that it was first built in 1520, burned down and was rebuilt a few times, last time after WWII. Another plaque informs the visitor that Crown prince Friedrich Wilhelm, future emperor Friedrich III, stayed in this hotel in 1885. Unaware of these historic facts we wanted to experience a country inn by staying in a rustic room which turned to be rather pseudo-rustic, yet very nice and spacious, with modern bathroom facilities, and free Wi-Fi with a very long password though. The staff in traditional dresses are friendly and very helpful: leaving early? we'll fix a breakfast box for you; changed your mind? no problem, the breakfast's ready. And what a breakfast it was! Great selection of cheeses and breads. Cold cuts ran the gamut, all fresh and most likely locally produced, with delicious liverwurst beating the tasteless supermarket version hands down. And it was served in a rustic hunting lodge room.
They provide free parking at the brewery across the street. The tourist information office is next door. We had a dinner in their restaurant. It was fine too. In short it was a wonderful stay.

Schönes Hotel für einen Aufenthalt im Schwarzwald. Zuvorkommender Service, saubere Zimmer, leckeres Essen, ideal gelegen
Lage & Umgebung
Das Hotel liegt zentral direkt an einer Bahnlinie, daher muss einem klar sein, dass man sowohl die sich schließenden Schranken hört als auch die Bahnen, die vorbei fahren.
Das Hotel liegt jedoch so zentral, dass man fussläufig das Gelände des Alpirsbacher Klösterbräu (und damit natürlich auch das Kloster) erreichen kann.
Es gibt ein schönes Cafe in der Nähe, das wir besucht haben.
Zudem haben wir einen Blick in die Alpirsbacher Offizin (historische Buchdruckerei) und die Alpirsbacher Glasbläserei geworfen. Leider hatte das Stadtmuseum noch nicht auf, aber auch das wäre in unmittelbarer Nähe gelegen.
Zimmer
Das Zimmer, welches wir bewohnt haben war hell, sauber, geräumig und stilvoll eingerichtet. Wir haben uns direkt wohl gefühlt und gut geschlafen. Das Bad ist neu gemacht, mit Tageslicht und man konnte lüften.
Es handelt sich im ein altes Haus welches vermutlich denkmalgeschützt sein wird. Dementsprechend hat man keine modernen mehrfachverglasten Fenster. Das muss einem klar sein was Geräusche und auch Isolation angeht.
Wir waren an einemverregneten, eisig kaltem Zeitraum dort. Mit der Heizung auf 1-3 und den absolut dicken und gemütlichen Decken haben wir in keiner Minute gefroren.
Man hört die Bahn, auch das muss klar sein.
Die Vorhänge waren nicht verdunkelnd, was wir aber nicht gebraucht haben, da wir eh immer Schlafmasken dabei haben.
Gastronomie
Im Haus gibt es ein Restaurant.
Dienstag/Mittwoch ist Ruhetag.
Wir haben aber zweimal dort zu Abend gegessen und es war sehr, sehr lecker.
Das Frühstück ist liebevoll angerichtet, absolut ausreichend und es wird immer geschaut, dass alles noch vorhanden ist.
Freizeitangebote
Im Hotel gibt es meine ich nichts, aber drum herum. Bucht eine Führung (oder ein Bierseminar) im Klosterbräut. Schaut euch das Kloster im Rahmen einer Führung an. Es wird euch Spass machen.
Ab zwei Übernachtungen bekommt man sogar eine Gästekarte mit der die oben genannten Sachen (und auch vieles mehr in der Umgebung) ermässigt bzw. kostenlos sind
