Interrail trip

Excellent hotel. Changed at last minute as previous place booked did not have air conditioning.
Booked here instead. Ver warm welcome. Very helpful and friendly young chap on reception.
Air conditioning. Room was clean and very comfortable.
Lifts are available for those with luggage.
Breakfast excellent with lots of choices.
About 20 mins walk into city and old town

Hotel Ilbertz is a good hotel and well located not far from the train station to go to the city center of Köln.

As a business traveler, I found the value for money offered reasonable.

3 german stars are fully correct in Ilbertz- even more !

As I mentioned in title they were very honest, gentile and helpful. I chooses a single room and, I did not expected too much but...the furniture was cool, modified to give you more space: smaller door for bathroom give room for a larger bed and a nice wall mirror to get even more space. Large window for the same idea, good elevator, nice view over the bridge, like you will see in picture. I was really feeling safe and comfortable here and ii will be back for it's position: central, close to Laxess arena, train station and city center. Congrats !

Constructive criticism does not go down well. Too bad

We had been traveling to the amphi weekend for several years. Initially, efforts were made to ensure well-being. Here and there, one looked past disagreements. The fact that the suitcase ends up in the wrong room can happen...Increasingly we found that the priorities of the hosts have changed and simply the passion is missing. You feel as a guest if you are welcome. It seems forced, seems partly unstructured. Can only recommend having an eye on the confirmation voucher on arrival to be able to compare it with the invoice. At the price you can expect a certain level of service and professionalism. Especially since prices of equivalent rooms differ. Minibar neither filled nor occupied, telephone no longer available (this is still advertised). Cleanliness seemingly heavily dependent on the person performing, otherwise I can't explain the praise reviews. It is assumed that the cleaning takes place between departure and (at best again for longer vacancies) before the arrival of new guests.
