Birding trip to Shokaliya
Three of us had gone to Shokaliya (near Nasirabad, Rajasthan) on 19-21 August 2019. It was a very enjoyable and productive trip. Weather gods favoured us with cloudy and breezy days with no rain and not much Sun. We sighted over 60 species of birds which included Quails, Minivets, Flycatchers, Larks, Babblers, Sunbirds, Sparrows, Weavers, Pipits and were lucky to be enthralled by the displays put up by the Floricans.
During our trip we stayed at Sheesh Mahal hotel. The hotel is in a small township of Nasirabad and is comfortable and quite basic. It is the only hotel near the birding locations, with some amenities. It has a/c and non-a/c rooms and a restaurant. The staff is quite helpful. Food is nice though quite oily/spicy. The cooking staff does try to adjust the preparations to meet customers needs. Additions and alteration are on to improve the hotel.
