Dream vacation in Marrakech, Morocco ✨ at Riad La Maison Nomade:
For many years I have been coming to the wonderful oriental riad (= hotel) run by Herbert & Touria Kerz in German.
The riad has nine beautiful oriental rooms all with air conditioning (for warm and cool nights), a typical welcoming patio (= courtyard) and a great roof terrace to chill out dog sunbathing ☀️ over the rooftops of Marrakech
In the patio of the riad you have excellent breakfast and can also eat delicious dinner, e.g. typical Tajine
The riad is located in the middle of the Medina (= Old Town) of Marrakech and this is where the special charm of the centuries-old riad lies: historical, fascinating, interesting, restored with a lot of love & commitment, perfectly imperfect, with a lot of charm and soothingly different from anonymous hotel castles.
It is just a few steps away from the lively colorful souks and the fascinating Djema el Fna Square.
The oriental flair of Marrakech always fascinates and inspires me and it is always worth a TRIP for me

Felt cheated and unsafe
This property is run by the worst set of human beings ever. They left my wife and I who had a booking for 4 nights at their property stranded in the streets of Marrakech at midnight by denying our booking. It was one of the most scariest and frustrating moments of our life and was thankful to the good locals who found that we have been done wrong and helped us navigate to safety by helping us find an accommodation in a time when every riad was sold out.
We had planned, booked this property, had the booking confirmed and the money taken by this property a month prior. We tried contacting them before departure and was unable to reach them. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, we decided to talk in person and was met my an inefficient and useless caretaker who did not even know what to do. Then the locals stepped in and spoke to the lady who runs the property and she constantly kept saying that she has given it ti a group and we have no booking! Outrageous. They left us in a new country in the middle of the night which caused a safety hazard as well cheating us of our money.
If you are going to Marrakech, it’s best to book other lovely properties. Would’ve given no stars if there was option.

Riyadh yes, this one does not
Unfortunately, the stay was overshadowed right at the beginning. If you don't get picked up at the airport and first have to make a phone call, the anticipation of the riad is subdued. If you don't mind a simple breakfast and love "poor knights," if you don't value room service and want to be ripped off by dubious city guides, this is the place for you. European prices at poor levels.

Simple, clean and warm with lots of charm and personal atmosphere
We spent a few days at Riad La Maison Nomade in Marrakech and felt very comfortable throughout.
The riad is simple but clean, well maintained and furnished with great attention to detail. We particularly like that many old elements have been preserved and refurbished, which gives the house a warm, authentic atmosphere.
Naïma, the current head, has not been in the riad long, but takes care of her guests very warmly and dedicatedly. In addition to the local languages, she speaks English and is currently taking a German course. If you don't speak English or French and book especially because of German-speaking support, you might want to wait a few more months, then Naïma can certainly help in German. The German-speaking owner Herbert is only occasionally in Marrakech and not in Marocco for half a year at all.
The rest of the team was very friendly. The two ladies who prepare breakfast and make the rooms make sure everything is clean and tidy. In addition, there are other employees who take care of various tasks and there is always someone present in the house at night.
Breakfast is served at a large table in the courtyard, where it is pleasantly cool even on hot days. You sit together with other travellers, which is a great opportunity to talk and share experiences. A typical Moroccan breakfast is served: Baguette, Msemen (fried dough cakes), Harcha (semolina cake), jam, honey, cream cheese, butter, coffee and a glass of orange juice (not freshly squeezed), sometimes an omelet. If you have specific requests, you are welcome to ask, if something is available, it will be made friendly possible.
The roof terrace is a real highlight. In the evening you can sit there wonderfully and relax. On two evenings we brought something from the market, picked up dishes from the kitchen and ate on the terrace including homemade peppermint tea with fresh mint from the souk. A nice way to end the day quietly.
Unfortunately, on our arrival the airport pickup had not worked out. We arrived at night and had to wait a full six hours before we could reach anyone by phone and then be picked up. That was the only downer of our trip. As we learned later, the contracted carrier had failed. They have sincerely apologized in the riad for this, and we got a dinner as compensation, which we found a nice gesture. We didn't let it spoil the holiday, the rest of the stay was all the more beautiful.
We can also recommend the guided city tour, which was organized directly over the riad. Our guide Majid spoke German very well and guided us through the old town with a lot of knowledge and humor. Thanks to his explanations, we even got a sense that the souk, as twisty as it initially seems, follows a comprehensible structure. This helped us a lot later to find our way around better.
Conclusion: If you are looking for a charming, quiet and authentic accommodation with loving service, this is the place for you. Not a luxury, but a real feel-good atmosphere. We would definitely come back!

Once it's enough...
Our holiday itself was nice because we made the best of it, although we had to wait 3 hours at the beginning for the pick-up with 20,00 € paid. The property itself does not (any longer) do justice to its own advertising and website announcements. The room (Medina Whispers) is more than clairvoyant, our door even had "peepholes" because parts of the wood broke out at lock height. Water jet in the shower weak and also gets warm very slowly.Our bed frame was also broken and creaked, a note to the landlord was commented with: "It's always been that way." The excursions offered are only arranged and run by a local company, which offers the tours itself for half. We paid expensive money for a tour that was ultimately just a car ride. We did the rest ourselves and booked other tours elsewhere. The tour offered was conducted by a local, German-speaking guide and was great. Thank you Mustafa! Cost point for this 25.00 p.p. must be included when accepting the offer. The hotel staff speak English at best. The host shows up at breakfast from time to time and refers questions etc. to Naima, his hotel manager, who is now only starting to learn German. So personal, German-language support is a misrepresentation here. The breakfast in the morning in large groups was always very entertaining. We have made beautiful contacts. By the way, all common areas, especially the main room, are camera-monitored, whether with or without sound.
Conclusion: Anyone who relies on the promises of the website is betting on the wrong horse. But as the landlord said on Feb. Tag already said: "This is Morocco, you have to cut corners." Maybe we should have made those cuts to the bill...
