Barcelo Ponent Beach Hotel Aug 2026
What can I say, another brilliant stay at this gem of hotel. From the moment we walked in the Senora on reception treated us like old friends. She spoke to us both in English and Spanish (testing my Spanish), even helping me out. It was really hot and she supplied us with water, thank you.
Once checked in we headed for the room. I'd booked a double superior with sea view. OMG the room was amazing and the view WOW. Picture postcard view of the turquoise sea.
Next we went and got something to eat from snack bar, perfect as ever with a vast selection plus ice cream cones.
Dinner was great as usual with buffet style or A la Carte if you wanted something different. There was no chicken on that night but Chef went and sorted some chicken breast for me (bodybuilder diet lol). Yet again staff going beyond to make guest feel at home.
Entertainment was absolutely outstanding the Dance team forgot name of group, please help? Cappuccino, Paris, Koko Loco, Papi etc brilliant and very engaging. These guys are not only dancers but they do all the entertainment and holiday clubs.
To prove how hard the staff work to make you feel welcome. On one night there we're no tables left to sit at during the Latino Dance Shows. One of the many waiters who I had made friends with because of me speaking Spanish. Found a table and gentle moved through the crowd carrying it and placed at the side of stage and then ushered us to the seats. I felt like I was in a movie, everyone turning around looking at us like we we're VIPS. Its those little touches which make this place so special.
I'll back next year that is a promise

Staff are amazing!
Me and my boyfriend are just back from this hotel and we absolutely loved our time! Some pros are
- The cocktails!! So nice for them to be fresh made and served in a glass etc at night.
- All the entertainment staff, bar staff, and restaurant staff were so nice. To name a few… Koko Loco, Shakira. Papi chulo, Brazil etc. The bar and restaurant staff all went out their way to take your order and be helpful!
- Entertainment by the pool was fun!
Food
- The breakfast was great but your lunch and dinner is not really that great. There is not a lot of hot food choice despite there being a full row of cold things. The hot food choice was just not great which is a shame. We would definitely love to rebook if we knew this could change.
Lovely hotel!!

Definitely not a 4-star experience – we would not return
Definitely not a 4-star experience – we would not return
Our room was on the 7th floor and the air conditioning was absolutely rubbish. It was basically like having a desk fan blowing on low, and we didn’t sleep properly all week because of it. My husband even moved to the other end of the bed just to try and get a bit of air!
We paid extra for a “Superior” room, but the room was absolutely tiny. Our 10-year-old was left sleeping on a pull-out chair bed which was on such a slant that she struggled to sleep comfortably.
The room itself was in a really poor state. The bathroom sink was badly cracked, the door was falling apart where the shower water runs onto it, and the shower was covered in mould. The room also absolutely stank of food every evening.
The hall carpets were cleaned on Monday because they were heavily stained, but the hallway has smelt like wet dog ever since.
Despite upgrading to All Inclusive Plus, when we tried to order two beers and a cola at the beach bar, we were told we could only order a maximum of two drinks, despite there being three people on our booking. I questioned this with management and was told it was a misunderstanding and wouldn’t happen again. Thankfully it didn’t, but it shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
The All Inclusive Plus “exclusive” seating is also a joke. There are only around 15 beds, with a small sign by some steps, so it’s really unclear that the loungers are actually reserved. People naturally sit on them, and then every few hours a member of staff comes over and asks them to move. Surely there is a much clearer way of managing this.
We were also given just two towels every day for three of us, and there was no bottled water in the room. We raised both issues with reception and were told they would be sorted, but nothing changed. Eventually, I just got bored of spending my holiday going backwards and forwards to reception, especially when the lifts are so slow!
The pool situation isn’t great either. The pool by the beach has virtually no sun after around 2pm, so everyone ends up trying to squeeze into the corners where there is still some sun. This then makes the family pool absolutely rammed in the afternoon. The pool was also slimey, with bird poo left around it that was never cleaned away.
Overall, everything just feels dirty and poorly maintained. There is bird crap all over the pool floors which doesn’t appear to be cleaned properly, and the general cleanliness throughout the hotel has really let it down.
For us, this is absolutely not a 4-star hotel. We’ve stayed in much nicer places in Cala d’Or and, unfortunately, we definitely wouldn’t return here.
If you’re considering booking, I’d honestly look elsewhere. There are much better options in Cala d’Or for your money.

Old and rusty hotel
The hotel is verrrrry old. Looks nice on pictures but in real life not clean, old and much rust. Parking is terrible. Food is cold and not much choice, verry busy also.

Horrendous
I’m here now and would not recommend so many things wrong with this hotel but the fact the entertainment is still on and blaring into our room after midnight is just ridiculous. We’re on a family holiday to Mallorca not an 18-30 to Ibiza.
